Excellent Development currently has 7 full time staff.
 
Simon Maddrell who founded Excellent Development in May 2002 is our Executive Director and is responsible for implementing and managing the strategic objectives of the organisation. He ensures that the staff team is recruited and supported to provide the skills and experience needed to run a successful organisation and observe the philosophy and values of Excellent Development.

Sophie Bown has worked for Excellent Development since February 2006 and is the charity’s Communications Manager. Sophie’s role is to raise awareness and interest in our work amongst the general public, whilst also managing supporter and donor communications, our website and our social media strategy.

Emily Ambrose who joined us in August 2007 is Personal Assistant to the Executive Director and Chairman, as well as managing human resources, working on the development of Excellent Development’s trading arm and TreeDuty, our voluntary carbon offset scheme.

Ian Neal joined Excellent Development in July 2008 as Programme Manager. Ian is leading the extension of our work beyond Kenya. This role involves building our ability to support the work of others, and advocating for the wider adoption of our techniques.

Alexandra Oatham joined us in November 2008 as Fundraising Development Manager. Her role is to develop and manage corporate and major donor relationships as well as managing expeditions.

Benjamin Araud started with Excellent Development in January 2009 as Trust & Public Fundraiser. Benjamin manages new and existing trust funders and public organisations such as schools and Rotary groups.

Muhammad Ahmad is the Finance & Administration Manager. Muhammed joined the charity in September 2009 and manages the finance, administration and governance activities of the charity.
