2020 Vision
 
Three million more farmers a year will have access to clean water and grow enough food to eat and sell.
 
Mission

- We support farming communities in drylands worldwide to achieve water and food security through soil and water conservation and improved farming techniques. 
 
- We engage with development organisations at the local, national and international level to influence and support wider adoption of soil and water conservation and improved farming techniques.
 
- We promote the concept that development, in dryland areas, is achieved through tranforming the environment sustainably, including building resilience to the greater environmental challenges resulting from climate change.
 
- We enhance development and environmental awareness and education in the UK and worldwide.
 
2020 Goals

 
- Three million more farmers each year have access to clean water.
 
- Excellent Development is actively engaged with 50 organisations focused on building sand dams.
 
- 2,500 sand dams are being built each year.  200 of these by organisations receiving funding from Excellent Development and the remaining 2,300 built by NGOs independent of Excellent Development.
 
Strategies
 
Wide scale adoption of sand dams, and complementary soil and water conservation techniques will be achieved through 3 distinct steps:
 
- Enabling small scale practice
 
- Influencing policy
 
- Influencing large-scale practice
 
The strategy will be achieved by developing and delivering a number of distinct offerings and services for our clients to access on an 'as needed basis'.  These are:
 
- Visits, learning and resource support
 
- Sand dam pilots and support
 
- Organisational pilots and support
 
- Mainstream funding partnerships
